LeBron's $10,000 Commute: Inside the Fanatics A W139

Introduction

LeBron James has reportedly been traveling aboard N4FN, a Fanatics-associated 2022 Leonardo AW139 helicopter valued at approximately $10 million. The twin-engine aircraft features a spacious luxury cabin, advanced avionics, and cruising speeds of around 170 mph. Offering an alternative to congested city traffic, the AW139 combines speed, comfort, and privacy, demonstrating how private aviation provides more than luxury—it gives high-profile travelers greater flexibility and valuable time savings.

LeBron James lives in Manhattan, plays for the Philadelphia 76ers, and covers the 95 miles between them in about 30 minutes by twin-engine helicopter. A drive takes roughly two hours. Since the start of October, flight trackers have logged 18 trips between Northeast Philadelphia Airport and the Manhattan West 30th Street Heliport (Defector).

The aircraft is a Fanatics-branded Leonardo AW139, and the ride costs LeBron nothing. Access to Fanatics’ corporate aviation is written into the endorsement deal he signed in early 2024, according to his spokesperson (Philadelphia Inquirer). For everyone else, the same flight is a charter booking, and the numbers below show what it takes.

The aircraft: a Philadelphia-built 2013 A W139

The helicopter flying as N6FN appears to be a 2013 AW139 built in Philadelphia, the city LeBron now plays for. FAA records show N6FN was reserved on July 17, 2026 as the replacement tail number for N223KR, a 2013 AgustaWestland AW139, serial 41340 (FAA Registry). That airframe rolled out of the AgustaWestland Philadelphia plant and is held by Bank of Utah as owner trustee, a standard structure for corporate aircraft (FlightAware).

The AW139 has been in production since 2004 and is one of the world’s best-selling medium twins, used for VIP transport, EMS, search and rescue, and offshore work. Specs: BJT Online, Aircraft Cost Calculator.

Who is behind it: Michael Rubin and the Sixers

The helicopter belongs to Fanatics’ corporate fleet, and Fanatics founder Michael Rubin no longer owns any part of the 76ers. He sold out in 2022, which is why the free rides do not raise a salary cap problem (Defector).

2011: Rubin joins the Josh Harris group that buys the 76ers for $290 million (NBA.com).

2020: He raises his stake in parent company Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment to 10% (Sportsnaut).

2022: He sells the full 10%, much of it to arena developer David Adelman, to clear conflicts as Fanatics moves into sports betting (SportBusiness).

2024: LeBron signs with Fanatics; the deal includes corporate aviation access. Rubin and helicopters have a Sixers history. In 2018 he arranged one to fly Meek Mill from prison to a 76ers playoff game (WHYY).

What the NYC–Philadelphia commute really costs

A charter helicopter on this route runs $4,000 to $10,000 one way and saves about 90 minutes each direction. Owning the aircraft costs far more.

The math favors charter. Unless you fly several hundred hours a year, booking the right aircraft per trip beats carrying a $1.5 million annual budget for a helicopter that sits most of the week.
