More About Falcon 2000EX EASy

Eight years following the debut of the highly successful Falcon 2000, Dassault introduced the Falcon 2000EX. This evolution retained all the qualities that made the Falcon 2000 a favorite – efficiency, speed, and a spacious cabin – while elevating these attributes to new heights.

Within the Dassault Falcon 2000EX’s expansive cabin, exceeding 1,000 cubic feet, eight to twelve passengers typically find their seats, with the flexibility to accommodate up to 19 travelers when necessary. In the standard configuration, two seats can transform into flat, comfortable berths, offering passengers the luxury of stretching out for restful mid-flight slumbers. Embracing the French commitment to elegance, a plethora of interior design options abound, including a stunning array of eighteen metal finishes for the bathroom sink alone. An impressive 131 cubic feet of baggage space, capable of holding a total of 1,600 pounds, complements the cabin’s indulgent comfort.

Empowering the Falcon 2000EX are two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308C engines, each delivering 7,000 pounds of thrust, a remarkable 1,800 pounds more than the Falcon 2000. At sea level, this jet gracefully takes flight in a mere 5,585 feet, while at 5,000 feet of altitude and a temperature of 77°F, it requires 8,120 feet of runway for liftoff. Despite a fuel capacity 3,800 pounds heavier than its predecessor, the Falcon 2000EX maintains the economic prowess of its forerunner, primarily attributable to the advanced technology embedded within the Pratt & Whitney Canada engines.

The Falcon 2000EX proudly flaunts its speed credentials, offering a high-speed cruise of 482 knots at an altitude of 39,000 feet and a long-range cruise speed of 421 knots at 43,000 feet. It can ascend directly to 37,000 feet in just sixteen minutes, an impressive feat. When carrying six passengers, the Falcon 2000EX effortlessly spans 4,370 miles (3,850 nautical miles) at 0.80 Mach, a notable 920 miles farther than its predecessor under identical conditions. Its cabin is rated to a pressurization of 8.8 psi, ensuring a sea-level environment up to an altitude of 25,300 feet.

Dassault’s hallmark commitment to ease of maintenance shines through in the Falcon 2000EX. Equipped with fault monitoring and digital diagnostic systems, it simplifies troubleshooting and repair tasks for mechanics. Most components of the aircraft are readily accessible, minimizing downtime. Enhanced carbon brakes and the inclusion of a brake monitoring system extend the brake life by an impressive 25% compared to the Falcon 2000.

Notably, the Falcon 2000 was a pioneering design for Dassault, conceived entirely through digital means, thanks to Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application (CATIA) software. This digital approach not only improved aerodynamics but also streamlined the aircraft’s systems.

For avionics, the Falcon 2000EX relies on the Collins Pro Line 4 fully integrated suite, centered around the Honeywell EASy Avionics panel, featuring four 8 x 10 inch flat panel display screens. Designed for functionality and simplicity, the systems are logically grouped, and displays are in close proximity to the functions they control. Standard features include an Allied Signal GNS-XES FMS (Flight Management System), a Collins TWR-850 Doppler weather radar, and a dual-channel Integrated Avionics Processor System (IAPS).

The Falcon 2000EX stands as a remarkable achievement, surpassing its predecessor’s accomplishments. At the time of the Falcon 2000’s introduction, few private jets could match its capability to cover 3,450 miles at 0.80 Mach with eight passengers aboard. Furthermore, its commitment to passenger comfort, exemplified by configurable beds, sets it apart. Dassault has transformed one of their prior successes into an even more remarkable achievement with the Falcon 2000EX.
